![]() Stradivari or Guarnieri del Jesu violins, on the other hand, are arguably instruments without musical peer. So why not put it behind glass to best preserve that historical value? That way the world preserves a piece of history and sacrifices nothing musically. So, the only exceptional value that instrument has is its historical value as Hendrix's treasured guitar. Even if it's a really good strat, objectively speaking, there are guaranteed to be thousands of others as good or better. Hendrix's strat is a strat just like tens of thousands of others. ![]() To play devil's advocate, I would argue exactly the opposite. Help!I'maRock! makes the good argument that since it's just a strat like thousands of others, it should be played, as opposed to an extraordinarily rare and handcrafted violin that arguably should be preserved for posterity, since there will never be another like it. I can totally see both sides of this debate-wanting to preserve a piece of history and wanting a musical instrument to be played.
